Theoretical sessions, hands-on practice, live surgeries, and video demonstrations — all of this will be included in the course.
During the two intensive days of theoretical sessions, you will learn:
– Treatment protocols of single and multiple recessions in the upper and lower jaw
– The author's techniques of mucogingival surgery
– Treatment of recession around implants
– Soft tissue augmentation prior to implant placement.
On the second day of the course, Professor Giovanni Zucchelli will demonstrate live surgery on patients.
The third day will be entirely devoted to practicing hands-on exercises (on a pig jaw).

Professor für Parodontologie und Implantologie an der Universität Bologna, Italien, seit 2000. Er schloss sein Studium an der Universität Bologna 1988 ab und promovierte 1999 an derselben Universität im Bereich Medizinische Biotechnologie. Er verfügt über mehr als 30 Jahre klinische und akademische Erfahrung, mit einem Hauptfokus auf parodontaler plastischer Chirurgie und dem Weichgewebsmanagement um Zähne und Implantate.
Er ist Autor von mehr als 100 wissenschaftlichen Publikationen in peer-reviewten internationalen Fachzeitschriften, und seine klinische und wissenschaftliche Arbeit hat wesentlich zur Entwicklung und Verfeinerung chirurgischer Ansätze zur Behandlung von Gingivarezessionen und zur Weichgewebsrekonstruktion beigetragen. Er ist Empfänger mehrerer internationaler Auszeichnungen für klinische Forschung, darunter der E. Bud Tarrson Research Award in Oral Plastic Surgery der American Academy of Periodontology Foundation in den Jahren 2006 und 2008 sowie eine Auszeichnung der European Federation of Periodontology. Er ist Associate Editor des International Journal of Esthetic Dentistry und Mitglied der Herausgebergremien führender parodontologischer Fachzeitschriften.
Er ist Autor des Buches Mucogingival Esthetic Surgery, erschienen bei Quintessence im Jahr 2012 und weithin als Referenzwerk auf dem Gebiet verwendet. Er ist aktives Mitglied der European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, EAED, der Italian Society of Periodontology, SIdP, der Italian Academy of Osseointegration, IAO, und der European Federation of Periodontology, EFP. Ihr klinischer und wissenschaftlicher Schwerpunkt umfasst mukogingivale plastische Chirurgie, Weichgewebsmanagement um Implantate, Wurzeldeckungsverfahren und regenerative Parodontaltherapie.
Sie zählt zu den aktivsten Forscherinnen der Zucchelli-Schule der parodontalen plastischen Chirurgie und wurde bei Google Scholar mehr als 5.400-mal zitiert. Sie ist Erstautorin der systematischen Übersichtsarbeit des EFP Focused Workshop 2024 zu multiplen gingivalen Rezessionen. Sie ist Mitautorin eines Kapitels im Lehrbuch Implant Therapy, herausgegeben von M. Nevins und H.L. Wang. Ihre Forschung wurde im International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry und in weiteren führenden peer-reviewten Fachzeitschriften veröffentlicht. Seit 2018 ist sie ITI Fellow und war zuvor Visiting Professor an der San Raffaele University in Mailand.
Sie referiert auf bedeutenden nationalen und internationalen parodontologischen Kongressen, darunter dem AAP Annual Meeting und den EFP-Kongressen. Sie ist Hands-on-Faculty in Fortgeschrittenenkursen zur parodontalen plastischen und rekonstruktiven Chirurgie gemeinsam mit Professor Giovanni Zucchelli.
