Debemos conocer la oclusión desde un punto de vista anatómico, pero también es importante conocerla desde el punto de vista funcional como actúa una oclusión en relación céntrica, en oclusión céntrica, máxima intercuspidación, apertura y cierre, movimientos de lateralidad izquierda, lateralidad derecha; y como estos elementos juegan con lo que luego deriva en la mala oclusión. Antes de conocer una maloclusión es necesario que conozcan una buena oclusión no solo en estática si no en dinámica.
